Low voltage detection is a smart battery protection system built into many high-quality dashcams. It prevents your camera from draining your car’s battery while recording in parking mode. By constantly monitoring the vehicle’s voltage, the dashcam can detect when the battery level drops too low and automatically shut off power to protect your car’s ability to start.

This feature works seamlessly in the background. As your dashcam records in parking mode, it keeps an eye on your vehicle’s 12 V supply. If the voltage dips below a set safety threshold — typically around 11.8 V to 12.2 V — the system instantly cuts power to the camera. Once you start the car again and voltage returns to normal, the dashcam resumes recording automatically.
