Should my dashcam have a screen?

Posted by David - DriverCam

Dashcam Screen (Built-in Display) is a small screen integrated into the dashcam that allows the user to view live footage, adjust settings, and review recordings directly on the device without needing a smartphone app. A screen makes initial setup and camera alignment easier and allows footage to be checked immediately after an incident, which can be helpful at the roadside. However, dashcams with screens are typically larger and more visible on the windscreen, and the display can introduce a small risk of driver distraction if left on while driving (most models automatically turn the screen off). Screens also add a small amount of heat and power consumption compared with screen-free dashcams that rely entirely on smartphone connectivity.
