Can you add additional cameras to your dashcam setup?

A dashcam’s main unit (the “front camera” or “base recorder”) can often accept extra cameras through dedicated input ports or extension cables.
Each add-on becomes an extra recording channel (for example, turning a 1CH dashcam into a 2CH or 3CH system).
➤ Think of it like this:
|
Base Unit |
Add-On |
Resulting System |
|
Front cam only |
Rear cam added |
2CH (front + rear) |
|
Front cam only |
Cabin cam added |
2CH (front + cabin) |
|
Front + rear |
Cabin cam added |
3CH (front + rear + cabin) |
The main dashcam still handles power, recording, storage, and sync, while the added cameras are “slaves” that send their video feed back via cable.
